Ridiculously Good
How we can tell that we have a ridiculously good baby?
Reason #141 Thursday night Jeanne had a work dinner to go to and wasn't going to get home in time to relieve me so I could get to indoor soccer on time. Our friend Sera offered to meet Hannah and me in Grantham (where the indoor facility is) and watch her during the game (her boyfriend plays on the team too). I was a little apprehensive about messing up Hannah's bedtime routine because things had been going so well, but I wanted to play and figured it was worth a try.
After a hurried dinner (rice cereal, of course) and bath, I put her in her pj's and put her in the car. As expected, she fell asleep on the ride. Putting the carseat into the skeleton stroller I wheeled her into Grantham Indoor for the first (of many in the future) time. I explained to Sera that I thought she'd stay asleep and to rock her in the stroller or take her out and bounce and about the bottle I had brought (last resort). Just as the previous game ended and I was going out on the field, Hannah woke up (maybe from the buzzer on the scoreboard). Apprehensively I left the two of them to figure things out and went out to play.
It turns out I had nothing to worry about. Hannah woke up and looked around wide-eyed for about 15 minutes, but never made a sound and never even needed a pacificer before falling asleep for the rest of the evening. Even better, the game went well: I had fun and we won. And I was very appreciative of Sera for helping out and Hannah for being so good.
Reason #142 Friday afternoon I picked her up at daycare and went to BJ's and Shaw's to do some shopping. She slept through BJ's and then was awake but perfectly content in Shaw's. I've heard horror stories of trying to shop with kids and I'm sure we'll get there, but this was great. We got home, Jeanne put her to bed while I made dinner and we had a very nice, relaxed Friday night dinner and got a chance to sit and talk about the week in a much more civilized meal than I can remember in a while. It was a great start to a relaxing weekend.
The new photos I have are from other people and so have been added to the existing albums where they belong chronologically.
There are some great ones from Mount Washington:
